Website Terms & Cookie Policy

Two documents on one page. Part A covers using the website. Part B is the cookie policy. Buying StudyBrain is covered separately by the Terms of Sale.
Part A: Website Terms of Use
1. Who we are
studybrain.ai is operated by StudyBrain Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17385067, registered office 10 Ellesmere Road, Manchester, M30 9FH. Contact: hello@studybrain.ai.
These terms cover your use of the website. Buying StudyBrain is covered separately by our Terms of Sale. Our Privacy Policy covers personal information, and Part B below covers cookies.
2. Using the site
You may browse the site, and print or download extracts for your own personal use. You may not:
- Copy, republish or scrape the site's content for commercial purposes.
- Use the site in any way that damages it or interferes with anyone else's use of it.
- Introduce viruses or other malicious code, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its servers.
3. Your account, and The Common Room
Parts of the site sit behind a sign-in: the My Kit area every buyer gets, and The Common Room, our members' content library. Access to both comes with buying StudyBrain, under our Terms of Sale, which also cover the Common Room subscription and how to cancel it. These website terms cover how you use the gated area itself:
- Sign-in is passwordless. You sign in with the email address you bought with, and we send a one-time code or link to that address. Keep that mailbox secure and keep your email address up to date with us; anyone with access to it can sign in as you.
- The gated area is read-only. It is a library, not a community. There is nowhere to post, comment or message, and no way for members to see or contact each other. The only thing you can send is a suggestion to us, through the suggestions form, which goes to StudyBrain only.
- Suggestions. Anything you send through the suggestions form can be used by us to improve StudyBrain, without payment or credit. Please do not include personal information about your child in a suggestion.
- Content in the gated area is licensed, not public. Everything you download from My Kit or The Common Room is covered by the same household licence as your kit (Terms of Sale, section 9). Do not share your sign-in, or gated content, outside your household.
- We may suspend or end gated-area access for misuse, on the same basis as the Terms of Sale allow us to end the licence. Cancelling or losing a Common Room subscription never removes My Kit.
4. The AI assistant
The site includes an AI assistant window, powered by Claude via Anthropic's API, to answer questions about StudyBrain: installing it, running it, and what it does. On these terms:
- It is restricted to StudyBrain. It is set up to answer questions about the kit and to decline anything else. Do not use it for other purposes.
- Answers are automated and may be wrong. Nobody at StudyBrain writes or checks them before you see them. Treat them as a starting point, not a promise, and check anything that matters against the guides or with us by email.
- It is support, not advice. Nothing it says is educational, legal or professional advice, a promise about the product, or a variation of our terms.
- Do not type personal information into it. No names, no email addresses, and nothing about your child. It does not need any of that to help you.
- Conversations may be reviewed. We may read chat transcripts to improve the assistant's answers. How long we keep them, and who processes them, is set out in our Privacy Policy.
- It never replaces email. hello@studybrain.ai is always available, is answered by a human, and always wins over anything the assistant says.
5. Our content
The content on this site (text, guides, graphics, the StudyBrain name and logo) belongs to StudyBrain Ltd or our licensors. Claude and Anthropic are the marks of Anthropic, PBC. StudyBrain is an independent product; references to Claude describe compatibility only, and nothing on this site suggests affiliation with or endorsement by Anthropic.
6. Information, not advice
The site's content is general information about StudyBrain and about studying with AI. It is not educational, legal or professional advice, and it is not a promise of academic results. Exam boards, schools and universities set their own rules on AI use, and those rules are the student's responsibility to follow.
We work to keep the site accurate and current, but we do not guarantee it is free of errors, and we may change or remove content at any time.
7. Availability
We do not promise the site will always be available or uninterrupted, and that includes the gated area and the AI assistant. We may suspend or withdraw parts of the site for business or operational reasons. What you are entitled to as a buyer, including your kit and fixes, is protected by the Terms of Sale, not by the site staying up at any given moment.
8. Links
The site links to third-party sites, including Anthropic and Paddle. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or terms.
9. Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Beyond that, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the site itself. If you buy StudyBrain, our responsibility for the product is set out in the Terms of Sale, which is where the meaningful protections live.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also rely on your local courts.
Part B: Cookie Policy
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files placed on your device by websites you visit. Some make the site work, others measure how the site is used or help show relevant ads. Similar technologies (pixels, local storage) are covered by this policy too, and "cookies" below means all of them.
2. The rule we follow
Essential cookies run as soon as you arrive. Those are the ones the site cannot work without: keeping you signed in, keeping the site secure, and running the checkout. Under UK rules essential cookies do not need your consent.
Everything else waits for you. The only non-essential cookies we use are advertising ones, for the Meta pixel that tells us which of our adverts led to a sale. Nothing loads from Meta and nothing is sent to Meta unless you press Accept on the banner. Refusing is one click, in the same place, and costs you nothing: the whole site keeps working, checkout included, and only our advert measurement is affected. We do not use analytics cookies at all.
You can change your mind whenever you like. The "Cookie choices" link in the footer of our home page brings the banner back.
3. The cookies we use
| Cookie | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sb_room | StudyBrain | Essential | Keeps you signed in to your account and The Common Room | 30 days |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Essential | Bot detection and site security | 30 minutes |
| Paddle checkout cookies | Paddle | Essential | Runs the checkout and prevents card fraud. Set only when you open the checkout, not on an ordinary visit | Set by Paddle; see Paddle's own cookie policy |
| sb_consent, sb_consent_at | StudyBrain | Essential | Remembers whether you accepted or refused advertising cookies, and when, so we do not ask again. Stored in your browser, never sent to us | Until you change it or clear your browsing data |
| _fbp, and Meta pixel requests | Meta | Advertising | Measures which of our adverts led to a sale. Set only if you press Accept, never before | 90 days; see Meta's own cookie policy |
4. Browser controls
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.
5. Changes
We will update this policy when the cookies change. If we ever add a cookie that is not essential, we will ask for your consent before it runs.
